Our Story

Getting Started…

Life Vineyard Church Wallsend

Life Vineyard was planted in 2006. Four adults and three children moved from Trent Vineyard in Nottingham with a dream of starting a church that would transform the North East of England. On September 12th, 2006 Life Vineyard Church met for the first time. Six people gathered at David and Nicola Bass’ home to worship and call upon God to do something wonderful. Below is our story so far…

Over the coming weeks and months people joined the new church and soon there was a thriving small group that was bursting at the seams. Over the next few years the church continued to grow as people found a home at Life Vineyard. We started Sunday services and soon we were looking for a bigger venue.

In the first year we gave more than 3000 bars of chocolate away as ‘a token of Jesus love’ and had many wonderful conversations. We started as we meant to go on, leading our community into life!

Our First Home!

Over the coming years we launched Storehouse that served people who needed emergency food and clothes, we blessed the community in many ways and shared the gospel as often as possible.

After a time at the Grey Street Hotel, The Thistle Hotel and the Centre for Life we found our first full time home at 85 City Road. The family had grown, God had done some amazing things and we soon began to fill this space too.

One Church Many Places!

God keeps expanding our vision! Back in 2016 he invited us to dare to dream of one church in many places. In fact, what would it look like to start 10 sites in 10 years? In September 2017 we launched our first new site in Marley Hill, which alongside our site in Newcastle are bringing life to their surrounding communities. God is building His church and we are excited to see the potential of a site in Byker over the coming year or so. We would love to see expressions of Life Vineyard across Tyne and Wear, throughout Northumberland and into County Durham.

From a church of seven there are now in the region of 350 adults and children that call Life Vineyard home and many more that are engaging with the many ministries and activities we have pioneered.
